RIP: Maurice Jarre (1924-2009)

I thought he was an absolutely wonderful composer. He is most famous for his Oscar winning scores of the David Lean films, Lawrence of Arabia, Doctor Zhivago, and A Passage to India.

Just as John Williams is the favorite composer of Steven Spielberg, and Bernard Hermann was the favorite composer of Alfred Hitchcock (until Hitchcock dumped him for debatable reasons), so was Maurice Jarre the favorite composer of David Lean.

However, Jarre wrote scores for other notable films too.
